How to Measure AI Support ROI
Separate avoided work, better service and actual cash savings.

For cx, finance and operations leaders
Establish a comparable baseline
Record request types, volume, handling time, repeat contact and service quality before the change. Choose a measurement period and exclude tests. A different seasonal mix can create an apparent improvement even when the automation had no effect.
Measure net work saved
Estimate time avoided on eligible requests, then subtract review, correction, escalation and knowledge-maintenance time. Check whether customers return through another channel. A conversation labeled resolved is not sufficient evidence that work disappeared.
Use an explicit ROI formula
For a chosen period, ROI equals measured benefit minus total incremental cost, divided by total incremental cost. State whether benefit means cash saved, productive capacity or attributable gross profit. Do not treat all three as interchangeable or add overlapping benefits together.
Include the complete incremental cost
Count subscription changes, usage charges, implementation, retained tools and the ongoing operating owner. Use observed usage where available and label forecasts. Compare low and high scenarios when demand or outcome billing is uncertain.
Keep quality as a gate
Review serious errors, repeat contacts and customer feedback alongside the financial estimate. Reject a saving that depends on leaving customers unresolved. Instaconnect pilots should be measured against their supported informational and human-assistance workflows, with no assumed fixed deflection or cost-reduction percentage.
