    What Is Unified Customer Experience?

A working definition of continuity across customer interactions—and a way to test it.

    IN BRIEF

A working definition of continuity across customer interactions—and a way to test it.

For cx leaders and operations teams

    A practical definition

Unified customer experience is an operating goal: customers can move between relevant interactions without unnecessary repetition, conflicting answers or unclear ownership. Shared identity, context and workflow help deliver it. One product may support the goal, but a common login or a long channel list does not prove that customer information is connected.

    Multichannel and omnichannel

Multichannel describes being available through several channels. Omnichannel usually emphasizes continuity between those channels. Vendors use unified CX in different ways, so ask them to demonstrate the actual identity, history and handoff behavior. These labels are not a certification or a fixed architectural standard.

    Test a single customer journey

Use a synthetic customer who asks a website question, speaks with an employee and books a follow-up. Check what the next person can see, which fields carry over and whether anyone re-enters information. Then add a failed handoff or a changed email address. Record the gaps without assuming that an integration logo closes them.

    Keep systems of record explicit

Decide which system owns the account, consent, ticket and meeting. A shared workspace may still contain separate records. Define how corrections propagate and who handles conflicts. Consolidation can simplify administration, but it does not remove data mapping, retention or access responsibilities.

    What Instaconnect provides today

Instaconnect combines website chat, AI answers, scheduling, video and virtual events with shared workspace roles. Visitor history follows supported chat-to-video sessions. A single customer record spanning all modules is future scope. Evaluate today’s supported handoffs independently of that future direction.
